MDCAT 2026
MDCAT 2026 was held on Sunday, 20 September, after PMDC moved it from 16 August. 138,158 candidates were registered across 34 cities and a Riyadh centre. Results were declared between 24 and 27 September. The pass mark was 99 of 180 for MBBS and 90 for BDS, and no negative marking applied.
The result, province by province
There is no single national result. Each admitting university declares the result for the candidates it conducted.

What the scores actually looked like
Punjab, from the UHS result notice of 24 September: 47,475 candidates appeared, and this is how many landed in each marks band.
- 170 to 1801,772
- 160 to 1696,682
- 150 to 1596,260
- 140 to 1495,846
- 130 to 1394,939
- 120 to 1294,382
- 110 to 1194,188
- 100 to 1093,766
- 90 to 993,111
- 89 or below7,018
Read two numbers from it. 8,454 candidates in Punjab scored 160 or above, so a 160 is strong and not exceptional. And 7,018 scored 89 or below, which is the band that failed the MBBS threshold. Most candidates sit in the middle, which is why the aggregate, not the raw score, decides the seat.
The score band guide translates each band into colleges and the study time that moved candidates between bands.
The paper as it was set
180 questions in 180 minutes, one mark each, no negative marking. Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9 and Logical Reasoning 9. The paper was sat on OMR carbon-copy sheets, in English, at 10:00 Pakistan time.
PM&DC built one national question bank of about 8,000 items and gave each province at least two complete 180-question papers to choose from, so candidates in different provinces sat different papers on the same day. That is why a province-to-province pass rate comparison is not a comparison of difficulty.
What happened after the test
The 2026 cycle was disputed. These are the dated events, each with its own news entry, rather than a summary that drifts.
- 16 October. The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, held that collecting question papers back from candidates was not lawful, and ordered the papers published.
- 20 to 22 October. The Senate health committee questioned the PM&DC inquiry, asked for the paper within 72 hours, and directed a fresh inquiry into the complaints.
- 2 to 3 November. UHS published all four paper codes and opened a complaint portal that closed on 3 November.
- 5 October. PM&DC withdrew the rule that required an MDCAT for students going abroad.

MDCAT 2026 questions
When was MDCAT 2026 held?
Sunday, 20 September 2026, at 10:00 Pakistan time. PM&DC had first set 16 August 2026 and moved it on 6 August, on the prime minister’s directions. 138,158 candidates were registered, across 34 cities and towns in Pakistan plus an international centre in Riyadh.
When was the MDCAT 2026 result announced?
Each admitting university declared its own. UHS declared Punjab and KMU declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 24 September. Sukkur IBA published the Sindh provisional list on 25 September, BUMHS declared Balochistan on 25 September, and SZABMU published the combined ICT, AJK, GB and Riyadh result, updated on 25 September.
What was the MDCAT 2026 pass mark?
55% for MBBS, which is 99 of 180, and 50% for BDS, which is 90. In Punjab, 37,708 of 47,475 candidates who appeared reached 55%, a qualifying rate of 79.43%, and 40,457 reached the BDS threshold, 85.22%.
How many candidates scored above 160 in Punjab?
8,454. Of those, 1,772 scored between 170 and 180 and 6,682 between 160 and 169. That is the number that shows how far passing sits from competing: a 55% pass mark is 99 marks, and the top 8,454 candidates were 18% of the people who appeared.
Will the MDCAT 2026 score be revised?
UHS opened a question-paper and answer-key complaint portal on 2 November 2026, in compliance with a Lahore High Court order, and it closed at 6pm on 3 November. A published notice says whether any score changed; we have not seen one, so treat the score you were issued as final until the university says otherwise.
Are the MDCAT 2026 question papers available?
Yes, in Punjab. UHS uploaded all four paper codes, A to D, on 2 November 2026 after the Lahore High Court ruled that collecting the papers back from candidates was not lawful. That ruling is limited to the 2026 Punjab paper; it does not promise public papers in 2027.
