The four lists, in order
Every admitting body runs the same four steps. Most complaints about merit come from reading one step as another.
Provisional order of merit
Every applicant ranked by aggregate, before any seat is offered. Check your marks, your FSc percentage and your domicile here.
The usual mistake: Treating a rank here as an offer. It is a list, not a seat.
Final order of merit
The same list after objections. If a university corrects your Matric or FSc marks, this is the list that shows it.
The usual mistake: Not reading it because the provisional one looked right.
College-wise selection list
Named candidates against named colleges, made on merit and the preference order in your application.
The usual mistake: Leaving a college out of your preference list. A college you did not list cannot be offered to you.
Upgradation lists
Vacancies from candidates who declined a seat, filled from the same merit order into a higher preference.
The usual mistake: Assuming a declined seat disappears. It moves down the list, which is why later lists close lower.
The aggregate, and what it decides
MDCAT 50%, HSSC 40%, Matric 10%, in public and private colleges alike. The weights are the same in public and private colleges under the PM&DC regulations 2026, notified on 12 October 2026. Eligibility is separate: MDCAT passed, 55% for mbbs and 50% for bds, valid for three admission cycles, and HSSC (fsc pre-medical) or equivalent at 60% or more, with biology and chemistry and either physics or mathematics.
Worked example: Matric 92%, FSc 88%, MDCAT 160 of 180, which is 88.9%. That is 9.2 plus 35.2 plus 44.4, so the aggregate is 88.8%. The aggregate guide shows the tie-breakers each Province uses after the fourth decimal.
The college directory carries the closing aggregate recorded for each college with the year it closed. Read the final list for a college, not its first: Punjab issued thirteen selection lists in 2025-26 and the last one closed lower than the first.
The deadlines that cannot be moved
PM&DC closes the admission year itself. A local schedule inside these dates is the one that applies; nothing here extends them.

Questions students ask about the merit list
Has the MDCAT 2026 merit list been announced?
Partly. Jinnah Sindh Medical University published the Karachi district provisional merit list on 2 November 2026. The Punjab provincial order of merit is due on 13 November. Punjab private-sector MBBS merit is due on 12 November, Khyber Medical University on 12 November, NUMS on 10 December, and SZABMU and AJK later in November and December. Every date is on this page with the admitting body that published it.
Is a 2026 merit list the same as the 2026-27 merit list?
No, and that is the commonest confusion. The session 2025-26 lists were published between late 2025 and February 2026, so they are often labelled 2026. They belong to last year and are finished. The 2026-27 lists belong to the students who sat MDCAT on 20 September 2026, and most of those have not been published yet.
How is the merit aggregate calculated?
MDCAT is 50%, HSSC (FSc Pre-Medical) is 40% and Matric is 10%. The PM&DC 2026 regulations set the same weighting for public and private colleges. Convert each score to a percentage first, then apply the weights. The calculator on this site does the arithmetic.
What MDCAT score do I need in 2026?
The minimum is 55% for MBBS, which is 99 of 180, and 50% for BDS, which is 90. Passing is not competing: in Punjab, 37,708 of 47,475 candidates who appeared reached 55% at the 2026 test. Use the previous year’s closing aggregate as a reference, not a target.
Which universities publish the merit list?
The admitting body for your domicile, not PM&DC. UHS does Punjab, JSMU, LUMHS and the other Sindh universities share Sindh, KMU does Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, BUMHS does Balochistan, SZABMU does the federal colleges plus AJK and GB, NUMS does the armed forces colleges, and the AJK Joint Admission Committee runs AJK.
When do admissions close for 2026-27?
PM&DC sets the outer deadlines: 31 December 2026 for public medical colleges, 31 January 2027 for private medical colleges, 15 February 2027 for public dental colleges and 28 February 2027 for private dental colleges. A university schedule that sits inside those dates is the one that applies to you.
Where to verify it
The admitting body\u2019s own page is the only source that decides your place. Each row above links the portal. PM&DC publishes the regulations and public notices.
Know your aggregate before the list.
Enter your Matric, FSc and MDCAT marks and see where you stand against last year’s closing aggregates. The calculator uses the published 50/40/10 formula.
