Question 1

How many questions are in the MDCAT exam?

Accepted Answer

The MDCAT has 180 multiple-choice questions. Each question is worth one mark, so the paper is worth 180 marks in total. The paper runs for 180 minutes.

Question 2

How long is the MDCAT exam?

Accepted Answer

You have 180 minutes to answer all 180 questions. That is one minute per question on average, but some questions take longer than others.

Question 3

What subjects are tested in MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

The paper has five subjects: Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9, Logical Reasoning 9.

Question 4

Is there negative marking in MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

No. A correct answer scores 1 mark. A wrong answer or a blank answer scores 0. There is no negative marking, so answer every question.

Question 5

What is the qualifying (passing) score for MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

PMDC sets the qualifying marks. The threshold is 55% (99 of 180) for MBBS and 50% (90 of 180) for BDS. Clearing the threshold makes you eligible to apply. It does not secure a seat. Closing merit is set by each admitting university and is usually much higher. Check the current PMDC notice and the college prospectus.

Question 6

Is the MDCAT computer-based or paper-based?

Accepted Answer

The MDCAT is a paper-based test. You record your answers on an OMR sheet at a designated test centre. Follow the instructions on your admit card for the pen and other allowed items. Phones, smartwatches and calculators are not allowed in the exam hall.

Question 7

When is the MDCAT 2027 date?

Accepted Answer

PMDC has not announced a 2027 date. The 2026 test was held on Sunday, 20 September 2026. The government has said the test will be held within days of the FSc results, which usually land in August or September. July 2027 is our planning assumption for the study planner, not an official date. Check pmdc.pk before you rely on any date.

Question 8

Who is eligible to sit the MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

You need an FSc (Pre-Medical) or an equivalent HSSC qualification, with Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. PMDC sets the minimum marks, and a college can set a higher requirement. The PMDC minimum is 60%; check the college's current prospectus for a higher bar. Students awaiting their FSc Part II result may register and sit the exam. A-level students need an IBCC equivalency certificate.

Question 9

Can A-level students appear in MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A-level students can sit the MDCAT, but they need an equivalency certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) first. Apply early, because the certificate can take several weeks. Check the IBCC and PMDC instructions for the current cycle.

Question 10

Is there an age limit for MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

PMDC sets the eligibility rules for each cycle. Check the current registration notice for age requirements. Individual colleges can also have their own admission policies, so check the prospectus of the college you are targeting.

Question 11

How many times can I attempt the MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

PMDC sets the attempt rules for each cycle. Check the current registration notice before you register. Do not assume that a score from an earlier cycle will be accepted; the admitting university decides which scores it accepts.

Question 12

Can foreign nationals sit the MDCAT in Pakistan?

Accepted Answer

PMDC's registration notice sets who may sit the test and at which centres. Overseas Pakistani applicants and foreign nationals should check the current notice and the international-student policy of each admitting university. Do not rely on a previous cycle's rules.

Question 13

How do I register for MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

Registration is online through the PMDC examination portal when a cycle opens. You need a CNIC or B-Form, your Matric and FSc marksheets (or an IBCC equivalency for A-levels), a photograph and the registration fee. PMDC publishes the exact document list and fee with each notice. Check pmdc.pk before you apply.

Question 14

What documents are needed for MDCAT registration?

Accepted Answer

PMDC publishes the document list with each registration notice. It usually includes a CNIC or B-Form, the Matric and FSc certificates or marksheets, an IBCC equivalency for A-levels, a photograph and proof of the registration fee. Check the current notice for the exact list and format.

Question 15

What is the MDCAT registration fee?

Accepted Answer

PMDC sets the registration fee for each cycle. The fee is published in the registration notice. Check pmdc.pk for the current amount before you pay. Do not rely on an amount from an earlier cycle.

Question 16

Can I change my test centre after registering?

Accepted Answer

PMDC's notice states whether a correction window is available. A centre change is not guaranteed. Check the notice before you register, and choose your centre carefully the first time.

Question 17

When does MDCAT 2027 registration open?

Accepted Answer

PMDC has not announced the 2027 registration window. The 2026 test was held on Sunday, 20 September 2026. Check pmdc.pk for the 2027 notice. You can also turn on notifications in the app, but the official notice is the source that matters.

Question 18

How many months of preparation are enough for MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

There is no single number that fits every student. It depends on your FSc foundation, how much of the syllabus you have covered and how many past papers you have solved. A student with a strong foundation may need three to four months of focused MCQ practice. A student starting from scratch may need longer. Build a plan around a diagnostic, not a fixed month count.

Question 19

What books should I use for MDCAT preparation?

Accepted Answer

Use the official textbook for your board: PTB in Punjab, STB in Sindh, and NBF for Federal. The app has notes for 80 of the 89 active chapters, and active questions carry worked explanations. Use the textbook for the full chapter and the app for practice and review.

Question 20

How should I practise MCQs effectively?

Accepted Answer

Focus on understanding, not memorisation. After a wrong answer, read the explanation, name the concept you missed and add a card to your review deck. Use timed practice to get used to the pace. Review your error patterns weekly. Error pattern analytics is part of the MDCAT Pass.

Question 21

How many MCQs should I do per day?

Accepted Answer

There is no single daily number. A working range is 50 to 100 MCQs a day, and it depends on your other study, your accuracy and the time you can review. A smaller set that you analyse is worth more than a large set you cannot review. Set a daily goal in the app and adjust it as your accuracy changes.

Question 22

How do I prepare for Logical Reasoning in MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

Logical Reasoning is 9 questions. It tests pattern recognition, analogies and syllogisms. Practise a short set regularly and review the method for every wrong answer. Consistency matters more than a fixed number of months.

Question 23

Should I take mock exams before MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A full mock under exam conditions shows your timing and stamina. Take several in the final weeks and review every wrong answer. A mock score is a practice result, not a prediction of your official score.

Question 24

What is spaced repetition and how does it help MDCAT prep?

Accepted Answer

Spaced repetition schedules review at increasing intervals. Cards you find hard come back sooner. Cards you know well come back later. The app uses FSRS to schedule reviews, so you spend more time on weak material and less on what you already know.

Question 25

How is the MDCAT aggregate calculated?

Accepted Answer

The national aggregate uses three weights: Matric 10%, FSc 40% and MDCAT 50%. In formula form: (Matric % x 0.10) + (FSc % x 0.40) + (MDCAT % x 0.50). Check the admitting university's current policy, because it can add its own requirements.

Question 26

How long after the exam are MDCAT results announced?

Accepted Answer

PMDC publishes the result date with the exam notice. Results are published on the PMDC portal and can be checked with your roll number and CNIC. Check pmdc.pk for the date. Do not rely on a fixed number of weeks.

Question 27

What aggregate do I need for a government medical college?

Accepted Answer

Closing merit is the lowest aggregate that secured a seat in a given year. It varies by province, college, quota and year, and it is usually far above the qualifying mark. Use the official merit list from the admitting university as a benchmark, not a promise.

Question 28

Can I challenge my MDCAT result?

Accepted Answer

PMDC's result notice states whether a rechecking window is available, the deadline and the fee. Check the notice as soon as results are published. A recheck reviews the recorded result. It is not a new attempt at the paper.

Question 29

What is the Predicted Score on this platform?

Accepted Answer

Your Predicted Score is an estimate from your own attempts, accuracy and coverage. It unlocks after 100 MCQs. It is a preparation benchmark, not an official PMDC score and not a promise.

Question 30

Is the MDCAT the same across all provinces?

Accepted Answer

The syllabus is national. PMDC notifies one MDCAT curriculum. Each province or admitting body runs its own merit process, with its own quotas and closing merit. In our paper archive the boards are UHS, DUHS, KMU, NUMS, Balochistan and Federal. We do not have an SZABMU paper.

Question 31

Do questions vary by province in the MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

The syllabus is national, so the topics are the same across papers. The mix of questions can vary. Our paper archive shows which topics appeared in which paper, and the practice filters let you work by chapter. We do not publish a year-wise trend analysis page.

Question 32

What is a Predicted Paper?

Accepted Answer

A predicted paper is a 180-question practice set built from board-specific and general high-yield topics in our bank. It is not a leaked paper, and it does not predict the actual questions. Use it to practise timing and to find weak chapters.

Question 33

Which board should I select for the Predicted Paper?

Accepted Answer

Select the board whose paper you are sitting or the admitting university you are applying through. UHS for Punjab, DUHS for Sindh, KMU for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, NUMS for its own admissions, Balochistan for Balochistan, and General for a national mix. Aga Khan University is private and runs its own process, so check AKU's current admissions page. The board choice changes the weighting, not the syllabus.

Question 34

Can students from AJK or GB appear in the national MDCAT?

Accepted Answer

Students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan sit the national MDCAT. Seats and quotas are set by the admitting universities and can change each year. Check the current prospectus and the PMDC notice before you apply.

Question 35

What is included in the free plan?

Accepted Answer

Free accounts get 500 practice attempts in total, with worked explanations. You can ask SAGE up to 10 questions a day. The attempts do not expire. Chapter notes and the FSRS flashcard engine are included. Every 2026 past paper is free, with worked explanations, and does not use your attempts. The MDCAT Pass removes the 500-attempt cap, adds full mocks, the pre-2026 paper archive, SAGE at 20 questions an hour and analytics.

Question 36

What does the MDCAT Pass include?

Accepted Answer

The MDCAT Pass is one payment of PKR 10,000, valid for one year from activation. It removes the 500-attempt cap, adds full mocks, the pre-2026 paper archive, SAGE at 20 questions an hour and analytics. Worked explanations are included on the free attempts as well. The MDCAT and UCAT bundle is PKR 15,000.

Question 37

How do I pay for the MDCAT Pass?

Accepted Answer

Payment is by NayaPay or direct bank transfer, with manual receipt approval: transfer the amount, upload the receipt on the upgrade page, and an admin approves it. The pass activates within 12 hours of receipt approval. There is no subscription and no renewal.

Question 38

Is my progress saved if I switch devices?

Accepted Answer

Your progress is saved to your account. When you sign in on another device, your attempts, flashcard schedule, mock results and SAGE conversations load from your account. There is no live sync between two open devices. Refresh or reopen the page to see the latest saved state.

Question 39

What is SAGE?

Accepted Answer

SAGE is the AI tutor built into the app. Ask it to explain a concept or walk through a question. When it retrieves a textbook passage, it cites the board, subject, grade and chapter. It does not give page numbers. It can answer from its own knowledge when retrieval finds nothing, so treat a citation as evidence and a missing citation as a prompt to check your textbook.

Question 40

How do I turn on study reminders?

Accepted Answer

Go to Profile, then Study Reminders, and turn reminders on. When reminders are on, the app may send one notification a day, and only when there is something to act on, such as overdue flashcards or a streak at risk. You can turn them off at any time.

Question 41

What is CRUX?

Accepted Answer

CRUX is a high-yield subset of 3,700+ questions selected from the 83,000+ active MDCAT questions. The selection weighs syllabus weight, past-paper frequency and diagnostic value. It is generated from the bank against those criteria, not hand-picked. Each CRUX question sits in a dedicated FSRS deck.

Question 42

Do I have to pay extra for CRUX?

Accepted Answer

CRUX is included in the MDCAT Pass. A free account can try a sample of 5 CRUX questions in total, not 5 per subject. The pass opens the full 3,700+-question bank.

Question 43

Is my data safe?

Accepted Answer

Your data is stored in Supabase, which provides the database and authentication. Supabase publishes its security and certification information at supabase.com/security. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are not stored in plain text. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
