- Is MDCAT conducted by PM&DC centrally, or by each province?
- Both. PM&DC builds the central question bank, and in 2026 the provincial admitting universities administered the papers from it, with different paper variants per province. Admissions remain provincial: UHS for Punjab, KMU for KPK, STS-conducted testing plus multiple admitting universities in Sindh, BUMHS for Balochistan, and SZABMU for ICT, AJK, and GB. NUMS runs a parallel cycle for Army Medical College and the CMH network.
- I missed the 2026 registration window. What now?
- No late registrations were accepted in 2026, and that cycle is complete. Plan for MDCAT 2027: under the announced policy the test will sit within days of the FSc results, so preparation belongs in the FSc year itself. Watch mdcat.pmdc.pk for the 2027 registration opening.
- Is the syllabus the same as the previous years?
- Yes, the format is unchanged: 180 MCQs, 180 marks, 180 minutes, distributed as Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9, Logical Reasoning 9. No 2027 format or syllabus change has been announced; the MDCAT 2025 uniform curriculum remains the reference until PMDC says otherwise.
- What documents are mandatory on the exam day?
- Original CNIC or Juvenile Identity Card and the PM&DC-issued admit card. PM&DC reiterated the CNIC requirement in its 6 Aug 2026 notice; photocopies, expired IDs, and phone screenshots are not accepted at the gate.
- Does my MDCAT score carry over to next year?
- Yes. The MDCAT score is valid for three admission cycles, so a 2026 score covers the 2026, 2027, and 2028 admissions per the PMDC MDCAT 2026 registration notice. Retaking is allowed, but a valid score does not expire after one cycle.
- What aggregate formula is used for the merit list?
- Matric 10% + Intermediate 40% + MDCAT 50%. The formula is unchanged in 2026. Each province runs the formula against its own applicant pool.
- What is the passing threshold?
- 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS, the thresholds that have applied in recent cycles. Confirm against the PM&DC gazette when it is published for the cycle you are applying to.
- How is foreign quota handled?
- Foreign nationals and overseas Pakistanis apply through the PM&DC foreign quota process. A Senate panel on 5 Jun 2026 directed legal documents to make MDCAT compulsory for foreign medical admissions; verify the live policy on pmdc.pk before applying. PTAP (Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme) seats at FJMU are reserved for friendly and Islamic countries.
