How does the federal quota at Fatima Jinnah Medical University work?
Asked by StudentStaff20 October 2026New1 answerAnswered
I am from a small district in Balochistan. Someone said FJMU Lahore reserves seats for non-Punjab students. Is that real and how competitive is it?

Yes. Fatima Jinnah Medical University (Lahore) carries a federal quota: a share of its admissions is reserved for candidates domiciled in Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, AJK, and GB, plus 23 PTAP seats reserved for friendly and Islamic countries.
How it works in practice:
- Federal-quota candidates compete against that quota pool only, not against the full Punjab open-merit pool, which is why it can be a genuine route for smaller-province candidates.
- Nominations route through your own provincial/territorial channel, so your domicile documents must be airtight (domicile, PRC where applicable).
- Quota seat counts and the nomination process are confirmed each cycle in the PM&DC prospectus; verify on pmdc.pk when the 2026-27 admissions open rather than relying on older guides.
The full province-by-province admission table covers every quota route, including AJK and GB, and the FJMU directory page has the seat breakdown.
