History and heritage

The Shifa story starts in 1993. The hospital admitted its first nurse on 17 April 1993. It received its first outpatients on 26 June 1993. It admitted its first patient on 25 September 1993. 3 Those three dates give the hospital its 1993 origin. 3

The hospital formed its education council on 20 April 1998. 3 The first medical-school entrance test followed on 20 September 1998, which sets our 1998 founding date for the college. 3 The council ties the hospital to medical education from 1998 onward. 3 The hospital later housed a nursing college, and postgraduate medical education began there in 2003. 3

The first house job round ran from 8 October 1998. 3 The first MBBS cohort finished in 2003, five years after that test. 3 The college therefore produced its first graduates in 2003.

STMU now holds the college as a constituent part. 1 Wikipedia records STMU as a private university established in 2012, and the hospital works as its academic partner. 36 The university formed fourteen years after the college entrance test. 36 The university page runs the admission cycle for the college. 2

The hospital built specialist depth over the years. It performed its first kidney transplant on 3 January 2001. It completed its first bone marrow transplant in 2009. Its first liver transplant followed on 30 April 2012. 3 The hospital earned its first JCI accreditation on 19 May 2017. 3

The hospital grew from those 1993 openings into a multi-specialty centre. Its Islamabad page now lists more than 45 clinical specialties and more than 300 consultants. 4 The group reports more than 3,000 transplants across its programme history. 4 The hospital added a voice clinic in December 2018 as the first of its kind in Pakistan. 3 The group reports more than 1,000 liver transplants by 2021. 3

STMU publishes the 2026-2027 admission page with a booklet, an advertisement, an approved syllabus and a sample entrance-test paper. 2 The page carries all four documents for the current cycle. 2

What the merit trend shows

Our record gives the Shifa MBBS self-finance closing aggregate at 83.1% for 2022 and 84.5% for 2023. It then moves to 86.4% for 2024 and 89.1% for 2025. Every row sits in the self-finance quota, and the figure rises each session. The direction stays upward across all four sessions on record.

The national PM&DC policy sets the aggregate at 50% MDCAT, 40% HSSC and 10% SSC. 7 The MDCAT mark scale moved from 210 to 200 and then to 180 across these years. The 2024 row climbs 1.9 points over 2023 on our record. The policy sets the same three weights for every college in the country. 7

Compare sessions with care, because the same percentage does not mean the same raw score in every row. The 2025 figure sits six points above the 2022 figure on our record. One national formula therefore ranks every applicant for the college. 7
