History and heritage

Our record dates FUMC to 2001. The Foundation University charter follows Ordinance No. LXXXVIII of 2002, and the Fauji Foundation runs the university as an affiliated project. 1 One admissions directory records 2000 as the founding year. 7 A second directory records 2002 as the founding year, which matches the charter ordinance. 2

Foundation University Islamabad groups its schools under two streams. The health-sciences stream holds the Foundation University School of Health Sciences. 1 The second stream covers the non-medical schools of the university. 1 The two streams therefore split the medical side from the rest. 1

The health-sciences stream bundles the medical college with dentistry, pharmacy and nursing colleges. 1 It also holds the university secretariat and Fauji Foundation Hospital as the teaching hospital of FUMC. 1 The stream therefore groups four professional colleges around one teaching hospital. 1 The four colleges of that stream share one university charter. 1

Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi calls itself the first and oldest hospital of the foundation. The hospital counts 62 years of service and 36 medical specialties. 6 Our record describes the hospital as an advanced multi-specialty tertiary care complex. The outpatient department keeps a weekday window from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. 6

NUMS handles the admission route. Its MDCAT 2026 notice for session 2026-27 lists Foundation University Medical College among the colleges it admits. 3 The university runs a centralized admissions hub for MBBS and BDS. 4 The hub therefore carries the whole application flow for the college. 4

NUMS publishes open-merit lists for its private affiliated medical colleges. The session 2025-26 MBBS list follows that route. 5 Every applicant meets the same test and the same aggregate before the list forms. The list order follows the aggregate that every applicant shares. 8

Wikipedia records a 2015 HEC ranking in the fifth round. It places Foundation University at 45 in the general category. 1 The university page therefore carries both the charter and the ranking record. 1

What the merit trend shows

Our record gives the FUMC MBBS self-finance closing aggregate at 84.55% for 2022 and 86% for 2023. It then reads 85.2% for 2024 and 88.3% for 2025. The 2024 row dips below 2023 before the 2025 climb.

NUMS ranks every applicant on one aggregate and publishes the result as a college merit list. Its private affiliated colleges follow the same open-merit route each session. 5 The 2025 closing figure of 88.3% is the highest row on our record.

The NUMS weightage runs 50% for the NUMS entry test, 40% for FSc or HSSC and 10% for SSC. 8 The MDCAT mark scale moved from 210 to 200 and then to 180 across these years. Compare sessions with care, because the same percentage does not mean the same raw score in every row. NUMS applies that weightage to every private affiliated college on its list. 8

Admission process (MBBS via NUMS)

NUMS acts as the admitting university for FUMC. It conducts the NUMS MDCAT entry test for session 2026-27 and publishes the centralized merit lists. 34 The hub carries the active MBBS cycle for the session. 4 The notice fixes the test fee at Rs. 7,500 and sets a late window. 3 NUMS then allots centres to the registered candidates. 3 Our record holds no prospectus link for MBBS, so the directories carry the seat detail. The steps below follow the NUMS notice and the college directories.

  1. Meet the academic minimum of 60% in FSc pre-medical or an equivalent qualification. 2
  2. Register for NUMS MDCAT 2026 between 18 May and 22 June 2026. 3
  3. The late-fee window ran until 19 August 2026. 3
  4. Pay Rs. 7,500 for the test, or Rs. 8,500 in the late window. 3
  5. Upload images below 2 MB, enter personal details and choose two exam cities. 3
  6. Sit the NUMS entry test on Sunday, 13 September 2026 at your allotted centre. 3
  7. Budget within the PMDC fee cap of Rs. 1.89 million for session 2025-26. 2
  8. Follow the NUMS merit lists for private affiliated medical colleges. 45

Teaching hospitals and clinical training

Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi serves as the teaching hospital of FUMC. 1 It stands next to the campus, so students walk between lecture halls and wards. 2 Our record gives the hospital 850 beds. The hospital site lists 837 beds. 6 The site runs an emergency service around the clock. 6

The hospital site counts 36 medical specialties. 6 It records about 1,562 outpatient visits per day. 6 The facility calls itself the first and largest hospital of the Fauji Foundation. 6 The site also lists CT, MRI and mammography services for diagnostics. 6

The hospital sits on Jhelum Road in Rawalpindi. 6 Our record states that clinical training takes place at this hospital across the medical and surgical sub-specialties. The site names cardiology, orthopaedics, nephrology, ENT and paediatric surgery among its departments. 6

Students rotate through the specialty departments during their clinical years. The ward load gives exposure to medicine, surgery and allied fields under supervision. Both site figures describe one campus hospital complex. The hospital therefore carries both routine and specialist work for every batch.

Campus and facilities

The campus lies in Rawalpindi beside its teaching hospital. 2 Our campus record lists the hospital, the Foundation University School of Health Sciences, an advanced simulation lab, student hostels and a central digital library. The health-sciences stream names the medical, dental, pharmacy and nursing colleges on that campus. 1

Separate hostels for male and female students sit on campus. 2 The simulation lab supports skills practice before students reach the wards. The digital library carries the reading load outside class hours. The hospital keeps its own OPD complex and emergency building beside the grounds. 6

The health-sciences school shares the campus with the medical college. 1 The teaching hospital stands at the edge of the same grounds, so clinical days start close to the hostels. 2 The university secretariat also sits inside that stream on the same university. 1

The college directory lists the telephone as 051 5788171 and the website as fui.edu.pk. 7 The university domain did not load on the day of this research. The hospital answers on 051 5788150-65 for queries beside the campus. 6

Recognition and accreditation

Our record marks the MBBS programme as PMDC recognised and CPSP accredited. It also lists the programme in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools and marks it ECFMG eligible.

Wikipedia records accreditations for the Foundation University health-sciences stream from HEC, PMC, PNC, NBEAC, NCEAC and NTC. 1 Wikipedia also records HEC recognition for the university as a whole. 1 The college follows the NUMS admission route for its MBBS intake. 34 NUMS runs the test that gates every seat. 3

Our record marks the college recognition status as active. The NUMS final merit list for session 2025-26 carries the college name for MBBS open merit. 5 The PMDC fee cap for that session sits at Rs. 1.89 million. 2

Student life

FUMC runs a residential route with separate male and female hostels on campus. 2 Our campus record lists student hostels among the facilities of the college. The hostels keep out-of-city students inside the same compound as their classes. 2

Daily study draws on the central digital library and the simulation lab in our campus record. The teaching hospital stands next door. 2 Practical rehearsal in the lab feeds straight into ward work. The campus therefore keeps study, practice and ward work inside one compound.

Classmates arrive through one NUMS merit list, so a batch mixes students from across the country. 5 The shared campus keeps hostels, classes and hospital visits inside one compound. The university stream beside the college adds dentistry, pharmacy and nursing students to campus life. 1

Common questions

How do I apply to FUMC?

You apply through NUMS rather than the college. Register for NUMS MDCAT 2026, pay the fee, upload your images and list two exam cities. The registration window closed on 22 June 2026 before the test. 3 NUMS then publishes centralized merit lists for its private affiliated medical colleges, and FUMC appears on that route. 345

How many MBBS seats does FUMC offer?

Our record gives 150 MBBS seats, and an independent admissions directory also lists 150 seats for the college. The seat count shapes how far down the merit list admission runs each session. One NUMS list covers all seats. Our record gives the MBBS course a five-year duration. 25

What marks do I need?

FUMC asks for at least 60% in FSc pre-medical or an equivalent qualification. You must also sit the NUMS entry test that NUMS runs for its affiliated and military colleges. The test date for session 2026-27 fell on 13 September 2026. NUMS allots a centre to each candidate for that test. 23

How is the aggregate calculated?

The NUMS weightage runs 50% for the entry test, 40% for FSc or HSSC and 10% for SSC. NUMS ranks all applicants on that aggregate and releases college-wise merit lists. The current NUMS notice carries the weights for your session. Check the current NUMS prospectus for your session. 58

Where does clinical training happen?

Clinical training happens at Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi, next to the campus. Our record gives the hospital 850 beds while its own site lists 837 beds across 36 specialties. Students rotate through the medical and surgical sub-specialties. The site also runs an emergency service around the clock. The site counts 62 years of service for the foundation. 26
