MDCAT syllabus
The MDCAT is 180 MCQs in 180 minutes, split Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9 and Logical Reasoning 9. PMDC has not announced a 2027 syllabus, so this page states the current confirmed structure and labels every 2027 comment as a planning assumption.
The confirmed format

The syllabus in chapters and topics

28 active chapters are AKU-only and are not scheduled by the MDCAT study plan. They still appear in chapter practice and are labelled there. The topic count is the number of active topics filed under a chapter, not a count of learning outcomes.
2027: what is not confirmed
No 2027 syllabus has been announced.
PMDC has not announced a 2027 date. July 2027 is the mymdcat planning assumption for the study planner, not an official date. There is no published 2027 topic list, no changed subject split and no confirmed date. Do not treat any page, including this one, as a 2027 syllabus until PMDC publishes one.
The 180-question format is locked. PMDC has not announced a different format for 2027. The two facts worth carrying into 2027 are the format and the subject split above; both are current, and neither is a forecast. For the date question, read what is confirmed about the 2027 MDCAT.
The study planner uses July 2027 because a planner needs a date, not because PMDC has given one. If the date moves, the plan recalculates from the app setting, and the chapter list does not change.
How to use the syllabus
- 1. Map the chapters to your books. The paper carries five subjects. Start with the chapters your board teaches, then check the chapter notes for the exam framing.
- 2. Practise by chapter, not by subject. A subject is too large to revise in one sitting. The practice hub keeps the chapter as the unit.
- 3. Check the split against your effort. Biology carries 81 marks; English and Logical Reasoning carry 9 each. That is not a licence to ignore the small sections, but it is the reason Biology gets the most study days.
Questions about the syllabus
Has PMDC announced the 2027 MDCAT syllabus?
No. As of 2026-10-25 PMDC has not announced a 2027 syllabus, a 2027 date or a changed format. July 2027 is the planning assumption in the study planner, never an official date. This page labels it as an assumption wherever it appears.
Is the 180-question format confirmed?
The 180-question format is locked. PMDC has not announced a different format for 2027. The current paper is 180 questions in 180 minutes, one mark per question.
How many chapters and topics are in the MDCAT syllabus?
The live catalogue has 89 active chapters and 314 topics. 61 chapters and 199 topics are tagged for MDCAT; the other 28 chapters are AKU-only and are not scheduled by the MDCAT study plan. The table above is the MDCAT count, not the whole catalogue.
Which textbooks does the syllabus follow?
PMDC sets the format and eligibility rules; the uniform curriculum maps the content. The app files every question under the same chapter taxonomy as the notes and the study plan.
