MDCAT mock test

An MDCAT mock test is a full 180-question paper sat under the real 180-minute clock: Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9 and Logical Reasoning 9. A mock measures exam stamina and time allocation; chapter practice measures whether you know the chapter.

The format

The format below is the current confirmed MDCAT structure. PMDC has not announced a different format for 2027.

MDCAT paper format: subjects, question counts and marks
SectionQuestionsMarks
Biology8181
Chemistry4545
Physics3636
English99
Logical Reasoning99
Total180180

One mark per question, no negative marking, 180 minutes for the whole paper. NUMS Paper-I follows its own pattern: 150 questions in 165 minutes.

When to take the first one

Take the first full mock once you have finished a first pass of all five subjects. Before that, a 180-question paper mostly measures which chapters you have not opened yet, and a low score tells you what you already knew. That is not a useful diagnostic.

After the first mock, space them far enough apart that you can act on the review. A mock you do not review is a two-hour score, not a study session. The syllabus page shows which chapters the paper can draw from, and the chapter practice hub is where the review turns into work.

How to review a mock

  1. 1. Score by subject before you read a single explanation. The section breakdown tells you whether the problem is one subject or the clock. Do not average it away.
  2. 2. Classify each miss. Content (you did not know it), reading (you misread the stem) or timing (you knew it and did not reach it). The three need different fixes, and only the first is a chapter to reread.
  3. 3. Read the explanations for your correct guesses too. A right answer for the wrong reason is the gap that survives the next mock. The wrong-answer review method is the same one the app uses.
  4. 4. Book the repair, not the retake. Redo the missed chapters untimed, then take the next mock. Sitting the same paper again immediately measures your memory of the paper.

Five questions from a 2026 paper

One from each subject in the Sindh 2026 paper, with the key and the explanation shown after an answer.

  1. Question 1, English, Formal and Lexical Aspect of Language, DUHS 2026
He ran ___ the house when it started raining heavily.
    • Into (correct answer)
    • On
    • Over
    • At

    Correct answer: A

Prepositions of movement indicate trajectory into an enclosed space; 'into' denotes dynamic movement from an exterior boundary to the interior of a structure.
  2. Question 2, Biology, Inheritance, DUHS 2026
A carrier daughter for an X-linked recessive disorder may have received the diseased gene from?
    • Mother
    • Father
    • Both mother and father (correct answer)
    • Mutation

    Correct answer: C

A carrier daughter (XAXaX^A X^a) inherits one X chromosome from each parent; thus, her single mutant allele can originate from either her mother or her father.
  3. Question 3, Chemistry, Atomic Structure, DUHS 2026
What does the principal quantum number (n) describe?
    • The shape of the orbital (correct answer)
    • The main energy shell/level and approximate size of the orbital
    • The spin of the electron
    • The orientation of the orbital in space

    Correct answer: A

The principal quantum number (nn) dictates radial probability distributions and orbital boundaries, determining radial nodes and electron shell structure.
  4. Question 4, Physics, Electrostatics, DUHS 2026
When two electrons move towards each other, the:
    • Kinetic energy (KE) increases
    • Potential energy (PE) decreases
    • Potential energy (PE) increases (correct answer)
    • No change occurs

    Correct answer: C

Bringing two like charges closer requires work against electrostatic repulsion, increasing their electric potential energy while decreasing kinetic energy.
  5. Question 5, Logical Reasoning, Logical Problems, DUHS 2026
If there are three hospital care hospital, city hospital, and national hospital I) care hospital is not in Karachi ii) national hospital is in the Islamabad what will be the location of city hospital
    • Karachi (correct answer)
    • Islamabad
    • Multan
    • Lahore

    Correct answer: A

Deductive elimination allows assignment of unique locations, establishing that City Hospital must be in Karachi.

Questions about mocks

Is a mock test the same as the real MDCAT?

It has the same paper shape and clock: 180 questions in 180 minutes, split Biology 81, Chemistry 45, Physics 36, English 9 and Logical Reasoning 9. It is a practice paper, not a prediction of your final score or your admission rank.

When should I take my first full mock?

After a first pass of all five subjects. Before that, a 180-question paper mostly tells you which chapters you have not read yet. The study plan places papers after the learn phase for the same reason: a mock should test exam technique, not first-time content.

How is a mock different from chapter practice?

Chapter practice isolates one topic and gives feedback immediately. A mock mixes all five subjects, runs one clock and hides the answers until you submit. It tests selection, pacing and stamina, which a chapter drill cannot test.

How should I review a mock?

Score it by subject, then classify every miss as content, reading or timing. Redo the content misses untimed, read the explanation for every question you guessed, and note the section where the clock ran out. A score without that list is just a number.

Is a full mock included in the free account?

The free account includes 500 practice attempts with worked explanations. Full timed mocks, the pre-2026 paper archive and analytics are part of the MDCAT Pass.

Sit a full paper under the clock.

One timer, one paper, a subject breakdown after you submit. Full timed mocks are part of the MDCAT Pass.
