KMU took the institute as a constituent part on 25 November 2011. 2 Notification No. SOH/3-3/KMU records that transfer. 2 The institute then carried the KMU-IMS name. 2 KMU now runs the admission portal and the academic calendar for the institute. 4 The KMU portal carries the college merit lists. 5

Two hospitals carry the clinical programme. PMDC lists the Women and Children’s Liaquat Memorial Teaching Hospital as an own hospital of the institute. 8 PMDC lists MTI-DHQ Hospital as an affiliated hospital. 8 The two hospitals give students bedside clinical experience.

The government of KP declared both hospitals teaching hospitals. 2 Our dataset records 600 beds across them. What the merit trend shows

KIMS open-merit aggregates rose in each of the last four sessions. The closing aggregate moved from 80.95% in 2022 to 82.30% in 2023. It then reached 87.30% in 2024 and 93.11% in 2025. The rise runs across four sessions without a break.

The 2025 self-finance line closed at 92.62%. It sits 0.49 points below the open-merit figure for the same year. The gap shows self-finance candidates who sat just under the open-merit line. KMU sets 31 December as the last date for open-merit MBBS admission. 3 KMU publishes the list on the cas.kmu.edu.pk portal. 5

KMU sets the aggregate with three components: 50% MDCAT, 40% HSSC and 10% SSC. 3 The 2025-26 open-merit list shows MDCAT marks out of 180. 6 KMU breaks a tie on age, then matric marks, then entry-test marks. 3 Read older rows with care. The MDCAT scale changed from 210 to 200 and then to 180 across years. One percentage therefore does not equal one raw score in every row.

Admission process (MBBS via KMU)

KMU runs one centralized process for public medical colleges in KP. KIMS admits through the same KMU portal. The steps below follow the KMU admission policy for 2025-26. 3 The policy also fixes the fee deadlines for every public college in KP. 3 KMU sets 28 February 2026 as the final date for the merit lists. 3

  1. Check eligibility: at least 60% in HSSC Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification, and at least 55% in MDCAT for MBBS. 3
  2. Sit the MDCAT that PMDC conducts under the national schedule. One province result stays valid across Pakistan for three years. 3
  3. Apply online at cas.kmu.edu.pk or kmu.edu.pk. KMU accepts no paper form or postal submission. 3
  4. Give an order of preference for the colleges you want in the KMU application. 3
  5. Upload domicile, result cards, identity documents, photograph, signature and thumbprint in the format the portal asks for. 3
  6. Wait for the provisional merit list. KMU publishes open-merit lists and a separate KIM/KIMS category. 35
  7. Pay the admission fee within three working days of the offer letter. The seat lapses if you miss this window. 3
  8. Report to KIMS with your original documents: matric and F.Sc result cards, domicile, migration certificate and CNIC copies. 3
  9. Pay the college fee challan before the deadline set by KMU. 3

Common questions

How do I apply to KIMS?

You apply to KMU and not to KIMS. Register at cas.kmu.edu.pk, select KIMS among your preferences and upload your documents. The process runs fully online and KMU accepts no paper form. KMU then prepares the merit list. KIMS issues the joining instructions after that. 3 The portal shows the offer status for each applicant. 4

What MDCAT score do I need?

The 2025-26 policy requires at least 55% in MDCAT for MBBS. You also need at least 60% in HSSC Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification. PMDC conducts the MDCAT under the national schedule. An MDCAT result from another province stays valid across Pakistan for three years. 3

How is the aggregate calculated?

KMU counts 50% of MDCAT marks, 40% of HSSC marks and 10% of SSC marks. The 2025-26 list shows MDCAT out of 180. KMU breaks a tie by age, then matric marks, then entry-test marks. The policy prints the full formula for the session. 36

How many MBBS seats does KIMS have?

KIMS offers 115 MBBS seats. The KMU-IMS prospectus states that figure. 2 The prospectus splits the seats across allocation, subsidised open merit, merged-area, self-finance and minority categories. 2 KMU publishes every seat category in its admission policy for the session. 3 The KMU portal carries a separate KIM/KIMS merit category. 5

What is the MBBS fee?

The KMU admission policy carries the fee schedule for KP public medical colleges. It separates open-merit and self-finance rates by year. KIMS sits outside that seat table, so check the current KIMS rate with the institute before you pay. The fee challan follows the offer letter from KMU. 3 The policy also fixes the admission-fee deadline at three working days. 3
