History and heritage

The college takes its name from the Jhalawan region, the old princely state of the Khan of Kalat. The region covers the valleys of Zehri, Injira, Naal, Moola, Ferozabad, Wadh and Saroona. It borders Kharan on one side and Mekran on the other. 1

The prospectus calls the region a gateway back to Alexander the Great, who marched part of his army to Sindh through the Moola pass. 1

The Government of Balochistan notified the college on 24 February 2017 in notification No. SO-III (H) 2-1/2017/4048-57. The same notification covered Loralai Medical College and Mekran Medical College. 1

JMC admitted its first batch in May 2018. The prospectus records 2018 as the establishment year, and our dataset records 2018. 1 Teaching started in a temporary building on the main RCD Road. 1

The main college building is under construction in the Educational Enclave of Khuzdar, beside BUETK, Sikandar Shaheed University and the Institute for Special Children. The main campus covers 500 acres and a modern teaching hospital is under construction at the future site. 1

BUMHS has run the admitting and examination system since the 2018-19 session under Act No. VII of 2017. 2 BUMHS posts examination notices for BMC, LMC, MMC and JMC students each session. 5 The prospectus records 400 enrolled students, 49 academic staff and Prof. Dr. Munir Ahmed Baloch as principal. 1
