The Senate Standing Committee on Health has approved the PMDC Amendment Bill 2022, ending the Pakistan Medical Commission's legal status and paving the way for the re-establishment of PM&DC.

The Senate Standing Committee on Health on 23 August 2022 approved the PMDC Amendment Bill 2022, ending the Pakistan Medical Commission's legal status. The Bill was the legislative trigger for the eventual re-establishment of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council under the PMDC Act 2022 (assented 12 January 2023).

The Senate committee's action followed scrutiny of the MDCAT 2022 collapse, including the paper-leak allegations that the IHC would investigate in October 2022.
