The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services on 11 October 2024 flagged irregularities in the 2024 MDCAT cycle and summoned PM&DC for a formal briefing. The committee raised concerns over paper handling at a subset of centres and asked PM&DC to publish a centre-wise breakdown of the irregularities.

The committee's intervention directly led to PM&DC's announcement of a transparency committee for the 2025 cycle and to the Sindh-cycle retake on 8 December 2024.
