Aggregate 87.4%. Which Punjab colleges are realistic?
I calculated my aggregate on the calculator and it comes to 87.4% (Matric 968/1100, FSc 986/1100, expecting around 156/180 in MDCAT).
UHS closing merit was above 93.5% last cycle. Is there any point applying to public colleges in Punjab, or should I focus on private? My family can afford maybe 1.5 to 2 million per year at most.

At 87.4% you are below the public-sector line in Punjab (UHS public MBBS closed between 93.51% and 94.87% in 2025-26), so open-merit public MBBS is a stretch unless this year's merit drops, which it does some years.
What 87.4% realistically gets you in Punjab:
- Public BDS: dental closing merits typically run several points below MBBS. Worth listing.
- Private MBBS in the regional band: colleges outside the top Lahore cluster (Sahiwal, Sialkot, Gujrat, and similar) have historically closed in the low-to-mid 80s for self-finance. Your budget of 1.5 to 2.0 million per year covers most of them; the top private tier (CMH Lahore, Shalamar, Akhtar Saeed) runs higher.
- NUMS-affiliated colleges: a separate cycle with its own criteria; worth a parallel application if you meet their process.
Two practical moves: run the reverse calculator to find the MDCAT score that would lift you past the 2025 Punjab public floor of 93.51% (around 176/180 for your profile, which tells you retaking may be the better play), and read the private college cost breakdown before committing, because tuition is not the whole bill.
