MDCAT 2023 was held as a single national test on 10 September 2023, with each province selecting a university to conduct the exam after the dissolution of PMC.

MDCAT 2023 was held on 10 September 2023 as a single national sitting. After the dissolution of the Pakistan Medical Commission and the re-establishment of PM&DC under the PMDC Act 2022, the regulator delegated the actual test administration to the four provincial admitting universities: UHS (Punjab), KMU (KPK), BUMHS (Balochistan), and the Sindh admitting universities (DUHS, JSMU, LUMHS). NUMS administered its own cycle for Army Medical College and the CMH network.

The test used the older 200 MCQ format with marks distributed across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English. The 180 MCQ format would be rolled out for the 2025 cycle.
