Is my MDCAT 2026 score still valid for 2027 admissions?

Asked by StudentStaff15 October 2026New1 answerAnswered

Someone told me the MDCAT score only lasts one cycle and someone else said three years. Which is it? I scored 128 and I am deciding whether to retake in 2027.

Three years. The MDCAT 2026 score is valid for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 admission cycles, per the PMDC MDCAT 2026 registration notice.

    What that means for a 128/180 (71.1%):

    • 128 clears the BDS pass threshold (90/180 = 50%) comfortably and clears the MBBS pass threshold (99/180 = 55%).
    • Passing is not the same as merit. Public MBBS merit in Punjab closed between 93.51% and 94.87% aggregate in 2025-26, so a pass-level score does not win a public seat; it keeps private and some provincial options open.
    • Retaking is allowed, and your best score going forward is what you would use. A 2027 retake carries no validity penalty.

So the real question is not validity, it is whether a retake lifts you into your target merit band. Run both scenarios in the calculator and read the retake guide before deciding.
