What the merit figures show

This entity has no merit chart. No MBBS or BDS seat exists at KIU, so no closing aggregate exists for it either. 123 Our fact sheet carries four merit figures for this entity. The programme those figures describe does not exist, so this page does not show them.

Gilgit-Baltistan students read merit for the colleges where they study after nomination. 5 The national aggregate counts 50% MDCAT, 40% HSSC and 10% SSC. 8 DOEC GB publishes the seat distribution by open merit, district quota and admitting university. 5 The district quota covers ten Gilgit-Baltistan districts and a disabled category. 5 SZABMU also opens its own open merit to every Pakistani citizen, including Gilgit-Baltistan. 11

How Gilgit-Baltistan students get MBBS seats

KIU does not run medical admissions. The Nomination Board GB, run by the Directorate of Education (Colleges) GB, selects students against Gilgit-Baltistan reserved seats. 4

  1. Hold a Gilgit-Baltistan domicile, which the criteria require for every reserved seat. 4
  2. Pass HSSC, FSc Pre-Medical or an IBCC equivalence with at least 65%. 4 The criteria follow the PMDC regulations of 2018, as changed in 2019. 4
  3. Appear in the entry test for the current session under PMDC criteria. 4 SZABMU Islamabad conducted the 2025 MDCAT for Gilgit-Baltistan. 7
  4. Apply on the Directorate of Education (Colleges) GB portal for nominations, online applications and application tracking. 4
  5. Get the nomination from the Nomination Board GB against the reserved seats. 49
  6. Send federal routed applications through the Federal Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan. 9
  7. Send Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seat applications through the Director of Education Gilgit-Baltistan. 10
  8. Check the merit list of the admitting college, where the 50% MDCAT, 40% HSSC and 10% SSC aggregate applies. 8
  9. Join the allotted college before its closing date. KP cancels the nominations of students who do not join on time. 10
