Punjab Health Department requests urgent PMDC seat-increase approval
The Punjab Health Department has formally written to PM&DC requesting urgent approval of MBBS seat increases in new and existing Punjab medical colleges for the 2025-26 cycle.
Punjab seat increase request
The Punjab Health Department on 10 June 2025 wrote to PM&DC requesting urgent approval of MBBS seat increases in new and existing Punjab medical colleges. The request, made before the MDCAT 2025 cycle, was intended to add seats to high-demand public colleges and to allow selected new colleges to admit their first batch of students.
What this means for Punjab admissions
- Punjab has the largest pool of public medical college seats in Pakistan, with UHS administering the central merit list.
- The Punjab Health Department request, if fully approved, would have added hundreds of seats to the public pool. PM&DC has approved selected increases, including the Gomal Medical College seat increase for the 2026 cycle.
